Foot Hallux Valgus

Foot Hallux Valgus is a foot curvature in the area of the first metatarsophalangeal finger joint.

Main reasons of the deformity appearance:

  • Genetic predisposition
  • Flatfoot or clubfoot
  • Weakness of the bone tissue
  • Extra weight
  • Foot traumas
  • Tight shoes or shoes on high heels
  • Metabolic or hormonal disorders.

Treatment

In our clinic we offer treatment of the pathology of the forefoot (hallux valgus, hammer deformity, metatarsalgia) with transcutaneous method.

We use high-speed burs with minimal damage of tissues which allow to perform osteotomies of mesopodial bones from small punctures (up to 2 mm) under X-ray control. After surgery a soft bandage is put on a foot for fixation.

Advantages of this method compared to open surgeries:

  • Absence of post-operative scars
  • Absence of the damage of tissues surrounding the bone
  • Walking without crutches and in usual shoes (Crocs) fully loading the extremity from the first day after surgery
  • Mobility (a patient continues to live a usual life style from the first day after surgery)
  • Possibility to perform surgery simultaneously on two feet under a local anesthesia
  • Absence of swelling (we use kinesiotapes “Rocktape”)
